Equipment must be marked as follows:   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong><em>EX -&gt; d -&gt; II -&gt; C -&gt; T6<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Compliance with CENELEC (Ex) standard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Equipment protection mode (d = explosion-proof enclosure)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Classification of gas or dust groups (II = Gas)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Subdivision of gas groups (C = Hydrogen)  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ATEX temperature class corresponding to maximum material surface temperature (T6 = 450\u00b0C)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s this last criterion that interests us. What are the specifics of<strong> ATEX temperature classes<\/strong>? The ADF Syst\u00e8mes team explains.    <\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ATEX temperature classes<\/h2>\n\n<p>In ATEX regulations, <a href=\"https:\/\/zone-atex.fr\/page\/classes-de-temperature-atex.html\">particular attention is paid to temperatures<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Indeed, the various substances, gases, gas vapors and dusts can self-ignite under the effect of a certain degree of heat.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Minimum ignition temperature<\/strong> is used for dusts, and <strong>self-ignition temperature<\/strong> for gases and vapors.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The lower these temperatures, the more dangerous a substance is.<\/p>\n\n<p>Consequently, electrical devices for ATEX applications are classified according to the <strong>maximum surface temperature <\/strong>they generate. This must always be below the auto-ignition point. <\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Special features of gases and vapors  <\/h2>\n\n<p>In the case of <strong>gases and vapours<\/strong>, a<strong> temperature classification system <\/strong>ranging from T1 to T6* is used:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>T1: 450\u00b0C  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>T2: 300\u00b0C  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>T3: 200\u00b0C<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>T4: 135\u00b0C<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>T5: 100\u00b0C<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>T6: 85\u00b0C<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><em>*Marking according to IEC, CENELEC and NEC505.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>In practical terms, this means that a T6-rated material will not exceed 85\u00b0 surface temperature.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/adf.majoliedemo.com\/7154-tout-ce-que-vous-devez-savoir-le-guide-ultime?neo_campaign=guide-gratuit&amp;neo_medium=click_popup&amp;uuid=9cb08676-4e44-4d7f-bedd-511509558032\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"269\" data-src=\"https:\/\/adf-systemes.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/banniere-adf-guide-1024x269.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7044 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/adf-systemes.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/banniere-adf-guide-980x258.webp 980w, https:\/\/adf-systemes.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/banniere-adf-guide-480x126.webp 480w\" data-sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/269;\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dust specificities<\/h2>\n\n<p>For dust, the maximum surface temperature is specified directly on the marking: for example, T 129\u00b0C means that the equipment will not exceed a surface temperature of 129\u00b0C.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In the case of dust clouds, maximum surface temperatures must be less than or equal to \u2154 of the ignition temperature.  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Max temperature (C\u00b0) = 2\/3 of the ignition temperature of a dust cloud (Tci)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>In the case of dust layers, the temperature must be limited according to the presence of a dust layer of less than 5mm.  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Max. temperature = 5mm &#8211; 75 k (75 k corresponds to the safety coefficient of 75\u00b0C)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Finally, the temperature class or maximum surface temperature of ATEX equipment is only valid for a given ambient operating temperature.  <\/p>\n\n<p>It is therefore the responsibility of users to <strong>check that the equipment is designed for the temperature <\/strong>specified in the classification.
