While some are specific to the European Union and France, such as ATEX, others are more widely used internationally, such as IECEx. So <strong>what&#8217;s the difference between ATEX and IECEx? <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the IECEx system?  <\/h2>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><strong> IECEx<\/strong> is the International Electrotechnical Commission&#8217;s system for certifying standards relating to specialized equipment for explosive atmospheres.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Like ATEX certification, the IECEx mark is awarded to <strong>electrical, electronic or electromagnetic<\/strong> equipment and installations that have been tested and approved for operation in environments containing hazardous atmospheres. This will require the<a href=\"https:\/\/adf-systemes.fr\/en\/atex-cable-glands-and-junction-boxes\/junction-boxes-atex-enclosures\/\">purchase of an ATEX enclosure<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The<strong> IECEx system<\/strong> is actually an agreement between several IECEx-approved certification bodies in different countries, based on international standards<strong>(IEC or CEI standards<\/strong>) and designed to facilitate trade throughout the world.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In short, IECEx was set up to <strong>avoid the multiplicity of national certifications<\/strong>, while guaranteeing an appropriate overall level of safety.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are ATEX regulations?  <\/h2>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>ATEX regulations meet two needs:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure compliance and proper operation of equipment intended for use in an explosive atmosphere <strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/?uri=celex%3A32014L0034\">in accordance with European Directive 2014\/34\/EU<\/a>)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring the safety of workers working in potentially explosive atmospheres<strong> (in accordance with European Directive <\/strong><strong>1999\/92\/EC)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>ATEX standards are specific to France and derive from the two European directives mentioned above.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Under these regulations, all managers of industrial plants are required to <strong>control potential risks of explosion and fire<\/strong>.
