Its function is to prevent explosions, or at least to limit their dangerous effects if they do occur. There are three subdivisions:   <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>IIA &#8211; low flammability:<\/strong> acetone, propane, methanol, toluene  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IIB &#8211; high flammability:<\/strong> ethylene, town gas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IIC &#8211; very high flammability: <\/strong>hydrogen, acetylene, carbon disulfide<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>As for dust, it is classified according to the size of its particles and its conductivity:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>IIIA &#8211; low: <\/strong>flammable lint<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IIIB &#8211; high:<\/strong> non-conductive dusts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IIIC &#8211; very high:<\/strong> conductive dusts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check temperature classes of ATEX equipment<\/h2>\n\n<p>This refers to the<strong> maximum surface temperature<\/strong> permitted in the presence of explosive substances. The surface temperature of <strong>explosion-protected<\/strong> equipment or Apparatus is designed to avoid becoming a source of ignition.   <\/p>\n\n<p>For explosive gas or vapour atmospheres, there are six classes of <a href=\"https:\/\/adf-systemes.fr\/en\/all-about-atex-temperature-classes\/\"><strong>ignition temperatures<\/strong><\/a> :  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>T1: <\/strong>&gt; 450\u00b0C (max. surface temperature: &lt; 450\u00b0C)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>T2 : <\/strong>&gt; 450\u00b0&#8230; &lt; 300\u00b0C ( &lt; 300\u00b0C)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>T3 : <\/strong>&gt; 300\u00b0&#8230;&lt; 200\u00b0C ( &lt; 450\u00b0C)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>T4 : <\/strong>&gt; 200\u00b0&#8230;&lt; 135\u00b0C ( &lt; 200\u00b0C)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>T5 : <\/strong>&gt; 135\u00b0&#8230; &lt; 100\u00b0C ( &lt; 135\u00b0C)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>T6 :<\/strong> &gt; 100\u00b0&#8230; &lt; 85\u00b0C ( &lt; 85\u00b0C)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>As for dusts, there is no flammability temperature classification.
